Careers in Nollywood: A screenwriters POV

Have you ever wanted to be a part of Nollywood in any capacity? That's a huge one, trust me. The film industry is one of Nigeria's major exports, inking deals with global production and distribution companies such as Amazon, Netflix, and more, and contributing to the national economy. In this report from BusinessDay News, the industry is acclaimed to contribute 2.3% and about N239B ( $660M) to Nigeria's GDP. And despite the many criticisms against it, Nollywood has evolved in its artistic and technical approach to storytelling, making it one of the highly sought-after industries to work in, by young creatives.

But even if you don't have a flair for the arts and entertainment, it would interest you to know all the juice about career building in Nollywood.

She wrote the 2020 cinema and Netflix hit, Kambili: The Whole 20 Yards, among other projects she's done, and is building upon the solid foundation she has set.

Our chat revolved around screenwriting; challenges, how she started, and what Nollywood screenwriting enthusiasts can do to get into the industry. In the end, I was reminded that there is always a story and a starting; there's always a profitable career and a starting.
