NIST Just Releases THREE NEW NIST 880-53 Courses

This news just hit today, April 11, 2024! The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) has just released three introductory NIST 800-53 courses. Each class ranges from 45 – 60 minutes. With NIST revising its Cybersecurity Framework for the first time in 10 years (read all about it here in Issue 94), these courses will help you stay up to date on these changes. Start learning here!

Google Gemini Developments

Google Next is currently happening out in Las Vegas. This newsletter’s focus will be on Google Gemini because this is the product that Google will pivot. Gemini is the AI product that Google will is embedding in every service including Vertex.

You’ll now have: Gemini Code Assist (formerly Duet AI), Gemini Cloud Assist (application), Gemini in Looker, Gemini in Security , Gemini in databases and Gemini in BigQuery. Gemini is everywhere!

CompTIA Will Roll Out AI Essentials This July 2024

You don’t know how big of an announcement this is. CompTIA will release its new AI Essentials certification this July 2024. CompTIA is the IT certification for new and beginner level certifications. The US federal government also has several CompTIA in several of its Defense Department (DoD) 8140 certifications.

CompTIA pivoting to AI Essentials signals the importance of artificial intelligence towards beginners in IT. CompTIA announces that it’ll roll out AI Essentials certification this July (There has been no word on its possible BETA rollout. Career Trajectory will announce this when it happens.).

CompTIA is also incorporating AI into several of its preexisting certifications. They’re calling it Expansions. Expect to see AI concepts in Security+, PentTest+ and others.

I will be awaiting what effect AI inclusion will have on SYO-701 since this exam will replace SYO-601 this summer. Will we see an update to SYO-701 that will incorporate the AI expansion?

My Take on CompTIA AI Essentials and AI Expansion

I am glad that CompTIA is adapting to market demand by creating a new beginner level AI certification and infusing AI into its current certifications. However, $350 price tag is still hefty when AWS, Azure and Google Cloud beginner certifications are running $100. That is less than 1/3 of the $350 AI Essentials price tag.

Most employers are accepting AWS, Azure and GCP certifications so there is no business need for AI Essentials. This also means that there is no business case for test takers to shell out that $350 to sit for the AI Essentials.

I would recommend sitting for the $50 AI Essentials beta exam. It is 1/7 the $350 (7 * $50) original cost and you will get the same certification.

Right now, ServiceNow is still accepting applications for its 10-week part-time cohort. ServiceNow is one of the top ITSM (IT Service Management) software companies. ServiceNow is in high demand.

PMI Will Host a FREE Generative AI Training April 16, 2024

The Project Management Institute (PMI) will host a free generative AI training on April 16, 2024 at 10am EDT. You will have to create a free PMI account in order to register. PMI has been an early adopter of AI. It has created two generative AI trainings and have been talking about the importance of project managers using AI. PMI has also created a paid ChatGPT PMP exam simulator that you can you get either with premium ChatGPT subscription or PMI membership.

FREE NVIDIA AI Courses

Come across this on Dev.to (The Practical Dev). This article lists the top 5 of 16 AI beginner courses. What I like about this article is that the author lists why these are the top 5 beginner courses. Having that logic is essential towards understanding why an AI course is important to take.
