Name:?Suki Ho
My Old Position at Swarovski:?IT Support Engineer
My New Position at Swarovski:?Team Coordinator?Client Hardware and Application
Number of years at Swarovski:?10 years
Country of residence:?Austria
What did you do in your old position at Swarovski?
In 2012, I joined Swarovski in the newly established Global Service Desk team in Hong Kong. My initial responsibility was to provide first level IT support together with the teams in Wattens (Austria) and Cranston (USA) for all our Swarovski colleagues. In this position, I was also able to work with people from many different departments and established good connections with them.
Over the years, I had the chance to lead several consolidation projects to help transfer first level IT support from individual countries to the Global Service Desk.
In 2018 the Global Service Desk was moved to the Global Business Service (GBS) locations, so my last assignment was to provide training to the new colleagues and to assist with the transition.
What are you doing in your current position at Swarovski?
I work as team coordinator of the Client Hardware and Application team. My teammates and I ensure that everybody in Swarovski has access to standardized hardware (notebooks, PCs, printers, tablets etc.) that is reliable, stable and secure. Additionally, we are responsible for over 170 applications including Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud and many more.
I am also responsible for client hardware vendor management and coordinate the communication between Swarovski and our external vendors. This also allows me to work on global projects and contribute to Swarovski’s digitalization.

How did this career move within Swarovski happen?
For personal reasons I was planning to move to Austria. Due to the organizational changes in 2018, my position was moved from Hong Kong to GBS in Malaysia. This change pushed me to go ahead with my relocation plan.
After some time and consideration, I decided to apply for open positions at Swarovski in Wattens. I went for two job interviews and was given a fair chance like everybody else in Austria. I moved at the beginning of 2019 and started working as a system engineer in the Client Technology Service team in Wattens. I was then selected for the Team Coordinator position and took over new responsibilities last year.
I am very thankful that Swarovski gave me the opportunity to start a new career here in Austria and I am especially grateful that my managers went through all the effort and supported me with my relocation.
What does career mean to you?
For me, career is to be ambitious in what I do in my profession. It does not necessarily mean aiming for a higher salary or a higher job title, but to be motivated, to challenge myself and to improve in my current role.
I was inspired by a quote from Brian Tracy ”You can only grow if you’re willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.” Decisions I have made in my career were not always easy. It required a lot of courage and sometimes adventurousness, which I am still practicing every day.?
