With a degree in economics, Sophie’s career took a welcome turn to Quantity Surveying after studying for her master’s. Sophie is now a director in Soben’s US business, specializing in Data Centers - embracing all the changes that come with this fast-paced industry. When not crunching numbers, you can find Sophie watching Arsenal or Suits.
The individual began their career journey with a degree in economics, initially aiming for investment banking but discovered a passion for quantity surveying (QS) after working at a General Contractor (GC) during a summer vacation. After realizing banking wasn't the right fit, they pursued a master’s degree in QS while continuing to work at the GC for five years. Their interest in international construction led to a move to the US, where they found a specialty in the data center sector.
Key career highlights include their first QS project at the Four Seasons Hotel in London, a challenging data center project in Phoenix, and moving to the US, which marked a turning point in their career. Despite the challenges brought on by COVID, they focused on their career and continued thriving in the data center space.
