Career Specialists, Influencers, Change Makers, LinkedIn Leaders & Trailblazers who inspire, give great advice & change lives every day! #14

So, I know you have been waiting. I thought I was going to be late with #14 but I made it!

Here we are at the end of February. I just returned from #NLV2019. What a magical time. I got to present with the awesome Louise H Reid on the spirit and art of reciprocity. The Art of Reciprocity is the key to trust and success! When we learn to give out of the spirit of generosity, as opposed to tit-for-tat, the game changes. This was so evident at #NLV2019. Thank you Sarah Elkins for asking me to play a part of such an amazing conference that developed relationships way beyond the keyboard. I am already thinking about #NLV2020.

Eleanor C. Whitney, author of the book Grow, said that "when you act with generosity you are consistently open with your skills, ideas and knowledge. When you are generous you don't just give of yourself, but acknowledge the contributions and needs of others. The result is a network of people who are also willing to help you."

This post is dedicated to women who I have met, or gotten to know recently, who understand the spirit of giving. They are constantly paying thing forward: their knowledge, their tips, their kindness, and heck, even coffee... a special thank you to Maureen Y Nowicki who sent me a coffee card knowing how much I LOVE having LinkedIn Lattes!

I also have to do a shout out to Adam Grant who is one of my favorite authors. If you get the chance to read "Give and Take" it will support why I am such a big fan and use LinkedIn as a tool to exercise your give and take muscles. Once you do, navigating LinkedIn Land becomes an entirely new experience.

Every time, I embark on a new Change-maker article, it is my way for you to get to know get to people who are making a real difference here on LinkedIn!

Enjoy #14.

  1. Lynn T McGreer

"Your time is precious. Don’t waste it with people who don’t raise your energy and lift you spiritually. Spend time with people who inspire greatness in you! Time is a resource we will never get back. You can’t buy more time. Use it wisely."

2. Michelle Precourt

"The fear of falling is the fear of failing and the only difference between those two words is the letter “I”. The letter “I” is your ego getting in the way of trying something different."

3. Heidi Allen

"No matter the circumstance, embrace, learn, love and let go when necessary and you will always succeed in the human experience."

4. Carla Howard

"We’ve all got one! That critical voice inside our head that runs a constant commentary about everything we do, say, or dare to dream.

Quieting that less than helpful voice will create a path for you to do more brave things, dream bigger, and experience more joy in your life."

5. Kenyatta Turner

"There are many things in life that you cannot control, and your thoughts are not one of them!"

6. Robin Bennett

"Every single one us has an opportunity to expand our perspective and learn something new. Take the call; have the meeting. Our superficial digital interactions will only take us so far. It’s the give-and-take of conversation that changes our thinking and makes us creative."

7. Dr. Jo Anne White

"While walking the other day I found 2 Woolly Bear Caterpillars in the road. If I left them there they would be crushed by cars racing by. I removed them from the road to safety and it got me thinking. Acts of kindness cost so little yet can change another's life and add heart-centered caring which is so needed in our world today."

8. Alison Doyle

"There might not be a single glaring warning sign, though there are some indicators that you can look for if you’re not sure where your career is going. It could be something as simple as a feeling in your gut (and listen to it if it’s there; your gut is usually right) that it’s time for a change."

9. Rachel Miller

"Be patient, let your business bake. The batter may not be all that enticing but with time as it bakes, the smell will start to capture attention and those interested will start to come around. And if it’s good, they will tell their friends."

10. Kristen Prewitt

"If we were all the same and didn't have any weaknesses, we wouldn't have a need to engage others, no need to collaborate, no need to build relationships and growth wouldn't take place.

The question ties back to how, we as humans, thrive on helping others. We thrive on communication and relationships. It propels humanity forward because it creates growth. There's a need inside of us that desires to love, to serve and to be loved."

11. Devina Kaur

"~??~ Don’t worry if you make waves simply by being yourself. The Moon does this all the time ~??~ "

12. Krista Mollion

"Replace “Try Harder” with “Try New Strategies”.

Most people aren’t clueless nor lazy. They aren’t succeeding because of their strategies. Never underestimate the power of habit. Some ridiculously simple small adjustments can lead to a massive, groundbreaking boost in your success, progress, and productivity.

Let’s encourage instead of discourage!"

13. Susan P. Joyce

"Keep it clean! If you must rant about politics, religion, sports, etc. online, do it with a different version of your name. Make sure that you don't throw any "digital dirt" on your clean name, and watch out for someone else making the name dirty."

14. Belinda Aramide

"Confidence has a way of affecting so many aspects of our lives. From the way we eat, the choices me make, and the sales relationships we are able to activate.

You can't sell without confidence. Anyone who has sold will tell you that. From dealing with objections, having the nerve to reach out to someone for a meeting, to negotiating the final price on a deal, without self-confidence, it won't matter if you're selling the BEST and most suited product for your prospects out there."

15. Heather R. Younger

"One of those values stems from the belief that I am no better than anyone else, but that I am just as good as the next person. I have always treated people with the respect and dignity they deserve. The thing that gets under my skin the most is when I see people mistreated."

16. Berteena Gaines

"I broke the rules when I violated the traffic laws. I can wager the majority of the people who read this have broken some traffic laws at some point too. Many of us are all guilty of minor offenses.

When we see potential in someone, we lower their ticket. We give them the opportunity to stay within five to nine. One or two citations doesn’t mean that their career is over.

We all fall short. We all lack good judgement at some point. We make poor choices.

Identify the problem. Troubleshoot the issue. Reshape. Condition. Condition. Condition.

Where there is empathy and understanding, there will be opportunity for growth.

Minor offenses happen. We are tested daily.

When given the opportunity, we all know that we can do better.

Every day is a new day to begin again. We can choose to live by the rules or push the limits from five to nine or break them at eleven."

17. Melissa Hughes

"The inner critic isn't all bad, though. It's this conflict between fear and conviction that that is the impetus for courage...with no one around, with no one watching. Alone, vulnerable and naked, we quiet the fears in our heads enough to take that first baby step forward, and then another, and another. The hope is that with each step, we gain enough experience and confidence to keep going. With each step, the negative images fade and we can begin to see success come into focus."

18. Maureen Y Nowicki

"February Theme: Fly like a kite, everyone! Time now to take the order, details, and planning started last month and see where the wind orientates you this month...and it may take you to unexpected places. Explore all possibilities personally and professionally.??

Universal Affirmation: ”Wherever the road takes me I will welcome its twists and turns.”??

Feng Shui Suggestion: Improve the appearance of your front door, as this is where chi enters.??

Essential Oil: Citrus Reticulata (Mandarin!)??

Crystal: Carnelian."

I am feeling exceptionally grateful this month: For the opportunities, the connections, the relationships, the chances to grow and learn, and for all of your support.

Here is a copy of the LinkedIn in High Heels Manifesto for all of us ladies who LEAD ONLINE. Print and Pay it forward. LinkedIn in High Heels Manifesto #2 is coming out next week. Stay tuned!
