Career Reflections

As I hit my first year at Ring, it gives me a moment to pause and reflect on my career.

I grew up at Vanguard and met a lot of amazing people there and learned a tremendous amount. I learned, even more, when I started my own business and then when I sold it.

When I came to Ring as a supervisor I was excited to join something new, something wonderful, and something where we have a meaningful impact on our customer's lives.

I was nervous my first day of training - I had no technical background and knew nothing of the industry. I was blessed with some great trainers who helped me out and before I knew it, I was on the floor.

I was struck by how much people cared about team members and about the customer. The sense of urgency and the seriousness with which people took their jobs is something you might expect to find in a hospital emergency room, not a contact center.

I loved it.

I got a team and I nurtured them. As I did I found countless opportunities to improve the lives of my team members and my customers. Eventually I was promoted to Operations Manager.

There I was given the opportunity to pursue pushing the NextGen Leadership development program in partnership with Eric Galeas and Marques Johnson.

I helped build workflows and find efficiencies. I got to work with Damian Doty, my partner in crime at Ring and we laid the foundation for the OPEX program.

It took some work but we got it approved and before I knew it, I was starting another new role at Ring, this time as a program manager, supporting our team members and customers at a broader level.

I'm share all of this for a few reasons.

  • I'm grateful to be blessed to have had a career where I get to grow every day and contribute more and more to those around me - it's unbelievably satisfying
  • I'm grateful to be blessed with people in my life who have helped me grow, who have taught me how to be better, and who have encouraged me.
  • I'm grateful to be at Ring where I've been able to have as large an impact as I've had in such a short time.

Upon reflection, in this moment, I have to say I've got a damn good career!
