"Women empowerment is important because when women are empowered, they contribute significantly to the strength and prosperity of their families and communities."
Miss EmpowHer: What advice would you give to other women looking to succeed in your industry? What qualities are the most important and what skills should they focus on developing ?
Kirstie Moore: Stay true to yourself and your values, and be prepared to work hard and stay dedicated. Resilience and determination are key; you will face obstacles, but your ability to persevere will set you apart. Authenticity is another essential quality; be genuine in your interactions and stay connected to who you are at your core.
Develop strong communication skills to express your ideas clearly and compellingly. Practice active listening to understand others' perspectives and build strong relationships. Leadership skills are critical; lead with empathy and compassion, and inspire those around you.?
Lastly, take care of your overall well-being. Balancing professional ambitions with personal health and happiness is essential for long-term success. Use your platform to advocate for positive change and support those around you because your voice and actions can inspire and uplift others.
Miss EmpowHer: Tell us about a woman who has influenced your career and how their guidance has impacted your professional growth.
Kirstie Moore: The Experience Director on my team, Brett Weinberg, has had a tremendous impact on my professional journey. One of Brett's most remarkable qualities is her knack for asking insightful questions. She has taught me how to think about problems from every different angle. This approach has been invaluable in my role, as it has enhanced my problem-solving skills and enabled me to contribute more effectively to projects. Additionally, Brett has encouraged me to take on new challenges and step out of my comfort zone. Her belief in my capabilities has boosted my confidence and motivated me to pursue opportunities for growth and development that I might have otherwise hesitated to explore.?
Miss EmpowHer: How do you handle work-related stress and pressure, and what techniques or practices do you use to maintain your well-being while pursuing a successful career?
Kirstie Moore: I love doing side quests to help me manage my stress. Side quests are fun activities that I do for my own enjoyment or to feel a sense of accomplishment. I like to do side quests that prioritize physical activity, whether it's through running, pilates, or simply going on “side quest walks” that help me explore my community and try different things. I love my volunteering side quests because they help me shift my focus away from my own worries and stressors. I also believe in the power of gratitude. Taking time each day to thank God and reflect on the things I am grateful for shifts my perspective and reduces stress.?
Miss EmpowHer: Can you share any lessons or insights you have gained from failures or setbacks in your career, and how you have turned them into opportunities for growth and learning?
Kirstie Moore: Growth often comes from the discomfort of setbacks. Instead of letting those experiences define me, I used them as opportunities to reevaluate and refine my approach. I learned to embrace feedback and view obstacles as chances to grow and improve.
"Growth often comes from the discomfort of setbacks."
Miss EmpowHer: Can you share any strategies or tips for building a successful network and fostering meaningful professional relationships that have helped you in your career?
Kirstie Moore: I’ve found that authenticity is key; people respond best when you approach them with sincerity rather than just seeking what you can gain. Don’t talk about yourself too much in conversations. Active listening is crucial, showing a real interest in others' experiences and perspectives helps you build trust and respect. When I first meet someone, I like to use their name in the conversation. Not only does it help me remember their name, but it also helps the other person be more engaged in the conversation because people love hearing their names said out loud.
I make it a point to offer support whenever I can, whether that means sharing advice, resources, or making introductions. Helping others without expecting anything in return strengthens relationships and creates a positive network dynamic. Regular follow-ups are also important; I stay in touch with my contacts and check in after meetings or events to show that I value our connection.
Miss EmpowHer: What strategies or tactics do you use for setting and achieving your career goals, and how do you stay motivated and focused on your objectives?
Kirstie Moore: At the end of the year, I do a reflection. In this reflection, I ask myself the following questions: 1. What were my wins? 2. What challenges or setbacks did I face? 3. What did I learn from these experiences? 4. What good habits, if any, did I build this year? 5. What habits have kept me stuck??
Based on my answers, I create goals for the next year and I break these goals into smaller, manageable tasks which helps me create a roadmap for progress. By reminding myself of the promise I made to myself, I stay motivated and connected with the deeper purpose behind my goals.?
Miss EmpowHer: What motivated you to choose your current career field, and what do you find most fulfilling about your work?
Kirstie Moore: My motivation to choose my career path stemmed from a deep desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives. What I find most fulfilling about my work is the tangible impact we can make. Seeing how our labs and programs help our clients navigate critical points of inflection is incredibly rewarding. It’s gratifying to know that my efforts help shape the future of organizations and the lives of the people that work at those companies. Working on a team that’s committed to exceptionalism and innovation is a significant part of what makes this role so fulfilling.
Miss EmpowHer: Can you discuss any specific trends or changes in your industry that you see impacting careers, and how you are preparing to adapt to these changes?
Kirstie Moore: Generative AI is significantly impacting my industry by transforming how we approach problem solving, data analysis, and content creation. Staying on top of the latest tools and continuously learning is crucial for adapting to these changes. By mastering these technologies, I can offer more innovative solutions, improve efficiency in client deliverables, and ensure that I remain a valuable asset in a rapidly evolving field.
Miss EmpowHer: What advice do you have for individuals who are starting their careers or looking to make a career change, based on your own experiences and lessons learned?
Kirstie Moore: For those starting their careers or considering a change, my advice is to start with self-discovery. Understand your strengths, passions, and values, and seek a career path that aligns with them. Don’t be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. It’s so important to pursue opportunities and projects that excite you or you can learn from. Even if you think the project is too difficult or you don’t know what you’re doing, you should take it on because it’s an opportunity to learn. It’s important to build a network of mentors and allies who can provide guidance and support. Embrace feedback and always ask for it, as these are crucial for personal and professional growth. Finally, be patient and persistent. Career paths are rarely linear, and success often requires resilience and adaptability. Trust in your journey and stay committed to your goals, even when faced with challenges.

Miss EmpowHer: How do you approach professional development and continuous learning to enhance your skills and stay relevant in your industry??
Kirstie Moore: Seek out opportunities to learn through workshops, courses, and reading. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Talk to people in your network and outside of your network. I also believe in reflecting on my experiences and seeking feedback to understand areas where I can improve. Surrounding myself with a diverse network of mentors and peers provides fresh perspectives and insights, which are invaluable for personal and professional growth.?
Miss EmpowHer: Can you discuss any significant achievements or accomplishments in your career that you are particularly proud of and what you learned from those experiences?
Kirstie Moore: Recently, on Deloitte’s Impact Day, I led an in-depth communications strategy session for a nonprofit, Access to Success. I analyzed their digital communications, identified their strengths and weaknesses and provided practical recommendations to help them expand their online presence, increase public awareness, and attract more donations. I consider this project a huge accomplishment because it was my first time leading a strategy session, and it demonstrated how I can apply my skills to support nonprofits in the same impactful way I do for for-profit companies.
Miss EmpowHer: How do you balance your career ambitions with other aspects of your life, such as family, hobbies, and personal well-being?
Kirstie Moore: I set firm boundaries between work and my personal time. In my personal time, I love to do different side quests whether it’s volunteering at my favorite place God’s Love We Deliver, or planning an adult field day event for people in my community. I make sure I’m always doing things that I love or interested in learning. This approach helps me stay balanced and enriches my life beyond my professional commitments.
