Career Paths

Here are a few things to focus on when thinking of a career path. Something we should teach our young ones as well.
1. Passion. Nothing saddens me more than asking people “do you love what you do and where you work?” and you can see the exhaustion in their eyes.
They say no. But they have to do it because it puts food on the table. So please find something you love to do. Where even at some points it might get frustrating but it’s something you genuinely love. It’s like a long-term relationship. And if you resent the person you’re dating, you’ll be miserable. So find what you love to do, and then do it.
And then while you are doing what you love….
2. Money. Make sure that your passion can be monetized in the greatest possible way. Money is infinite. So find ways to make your passion pay for your lifestyle.
Let’s stop pretending that money isn’t important. It is. Money in abundance is best. Where you don’t have to haggle for prices or live hand to mouth. So make sure your career path pays.
While it’s paying…..
3. Latitude. Never settle for one path within your career road. If one path can pay, so can a second and third path.
An artist who has mastered her craft can draw or paint different things. She can paint for a law firm, or do portraits for a family, or make architectural drawings for an architect firm. She has the latitude to do anything.
Someone who did Finance can do accounting, be a wealth advisor, an asset manager, or write finance articles. (Like this guy: malikshehu.com).
A lawyer can branch out and do any type of law they want. Family law, corporate law, or can even be a human rights lawyer.
Their career path has so many other branches that they can take advantage of. So take advantage of that latitude.
While you’re searching for a career path, keep in mind that……
4. Change. Never be afraid to change careers. When you’re set on the path, never be too rigid as to not see opportunities on the other side.
You studied accounting but your passion lies in being a Makeup Artist? Change your careers and be an MUA and do the best you can there.
Or better yet…..
5. Combine. Your chosen career paths and passions can be combined.
Integration of different career paths can yield so many benefits.
An accountant who did MUA can do the make-up of her clients whom she’s befriended, for special occasions. That builds networking and money.
Someone who did Computer Science can do photography and combine both skills to create powerful and crisp images for people (like this guy: yakubushehu.pixieset.com/)
A model who loves farming? She can make agriculture sexy and bring it to agricultural magazines so female readers can love the industry.
Be versatile. Combine your crafts. (I mean, check this guy out: mohammedshehu.com/#services).
If you have any helpful career advice, please add them as well.
