We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Game Design Document Specialist to join our game development team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating comprehensive design documents that outline all the essential details and specifications for various artistic elements in our games. Your role will be crucial in providing the necessary information and guidelines to our artists, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing game experience.
- Collaborate with the game design team to understand the game's vision, mechanics, and artistic requirements.
- Create detailed design documents that provide clear instructions and specifications for artists.
- Develop comprehensive files that outline the number of characters, their attributes, roles, and relationships within the game world.
- Define the historical era, thematic elements, and visual style of the game, providing references and guidelines for artists.
- Determine the number and characteristics of tribes, factions, or groups present in the game, including their culture, appearance, and distinguishing features.
- Collaborate with artists to ensure that the artistic assets align with the design documents and meet the specified requirements.
- Provide support and clarification to artists throughout the production process, addressing any questions or concerns related to the design documents.
- Conduct regular reviews of artistic assets to ensure they match the intended vision and meet the design specifications.
- Stay updated with industry trends, game design methodologies, and emerging technologies to enhance the quality and effectiveness of design documents.
- Proven experience as a game designer, game writer, or a related role, with a strong understanding of game development processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively convey design concepts and requirements to artists and other team members.
- Proficiency in creating clear and detailed design documents, using tools such as word processors, spreadsheets, or specialized game design software.
- Strong knowledge of various game genres, including strategic war games, and familiarity with historical eras and tribal dynamics.
- Understanding of art principles, aesthetics, and visual storytelling, allowing you to provide accurate guidance to artists.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Passion for games and a creative mindset, with the ability to think critically and solve design-related challenges.
- Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Interactive Media, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
