Career lessons for our ticket sales team thanks to our ownership connection with the Indiana Pacers

Working in sports has been a gift. Sometimes a challenging one, but we all do it based on the passion we have for our teams. This week, our sales and marketing teams had an opportunity to visit with and learn from our big brother.

Because our owner for the Aces and 1868 FC also happens to be the longest tenured NBA owner, we get to learn from the most progressive sports league in America. We welcomed Todd Taylor, Pacers Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, to Greater Nevada Field.

In a session with our ticket sales team, sans managers, the group spent two hours learning from Todd's experience.

One of our reps compiled a list of takeaways from the meeting that I thought was meaningful enough to share.

Distinguish yourself in a positive way

Global problem solving is important

Be patient and always be ready to learn

Be mad that you didn't get the promotion, but understand why they got the promotion. You should only be promoted if your peers think you are continuing to learn

Stay where your value is

Leave when you feel you can be influential and inspire other people

Don't prepare for the next job, prepare for the job after that

#1 rule for your next job; look at ownership

Decide if you want to maintain your own home or move into someone elses home and fix it
