After a virtual graduation for the Class of 2020 and entry into a then-stagnant job market during the height of the pandemic, I had experienced my fair share of post-graduate blues. The start of my role as an Assistant Account Executive (AAE) for AxiCom marked a new and dynamic experience for me.
Virtual onboarding amidst the pandemic was seamless and welcoming; I met my team through many personable video conferences on the first day. The HR team’s kindness and constant check-ins with me during my first week turned a naturally nerve-wracking experience into a comfortable journey. I was wonderstruck when I received flowers from the agency on my first day, as well as many kind messages after the internal announcement that I joined the team. I was pleasantly surprised that the people around me were excited to have me on board, and in turn, I felt invigorated to contribute to the team as soon as possible.
AxiCom’s supportive culture has made a mark on me, and the individual care that coworkers and employees provide to each other has made the transition into a virtual/hybrid work environment effortless. My managing supervisor’s supportive attitude from the first day made an impression on me, as her sincere inquiry into my broader professional goals and areas of interest at AxiCom showed me that the agency has a vested interest in junior staff’s growth and development. It’s simple to say that I appreciate the effort that AxiCom puts in cultivating personal and professional growth for its employees – marking a major reason why #IchooseAxiCom.
I am still learning, though I would say that a willingness to learn as much as possible will help young professionals advance in their PR careers. Experience assisting different teams in an agency translates into broader skills, expertise, and knowledge about the industry. In turn, this helps one make better decisions about their career trajectory. An inquisitive mind, amiable character and diligent work ethic are qualities inherent to success and are the baseline for the team that is AxiCom.
Lucine Poturyan is a Los Angeles-based assistant account executive specializing in executive and internal communications. Since joining AxiCom, she has provided ongoing communications support to various clients. Lucine?is actively engaged in?civic leadership as a volunteer?representative on the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council, where she leads?the community outreach and youth enrichment committees. Lucine graduated from Wesleyan University with a bachelor of arts with High Honors in Government and Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies.
