About Ben,
Ben is the Ensembl Outreach Project Manager. He is responsible for the strategic development and organization of the training program and user support for the Ensembl genome browser and databases. Ben joined Ensembl as an Outreach Officer in September 2015, where he has delivered 175 workshops to over 5,000 scientists around the world. He also was responsible for providing online user support, creating online training materials, and managing social media.
Before starting at EMBL-EBI, Ben obtained his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the University of Cambridge and obtained his MSc. in Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry at the University of Nottingham in 2011.
He has previously been involved in a number of public-engagement initiatives, such as the BlueSci science radio show, the Pint of Science festival, and the British Science Association.
