Hello, fellow travelers on the twisted adventure that is our careers!
While I have been a frequent poster of thoughts, pontifications, complaints, and the occasional recipe on all things career, you are feasting your eyes on the very first inaugural debut kickoff introduction reveal of the Career Hacking newsletter.
The aim of this newsletter is simple:
To that end let me lay out the first of many recruiter hacks, in hopes that you will find these tidbits valuable in putting you on a satisfying trajectory in your career. Let's up the game!
1. RECRUITER HACKS
Use AI for EVERYTHING you possibly can in your job hunt.
Here are a couple of great tools you should become acquainted with:
resumeworded.com - this site is a one-stop shop for creating and optimizing your resume to beat the ATS. It also gives great guidance on your LinkedIn profile, and it won't break the bank.
jobire.ai - the first thing we career coaches will tell you is to STOP posting & praying. it does absolutely no good to SPAM recruiter inboxes with stale resumes and droning cover letters. but once you've crafted your brand, built a bulletproof resume, and updated your LI, NOW it's time to put AI to work. You can either go fully auto assault apply mode (my term, not theirs), or you can be more selective. Game changer!
chatGPT.com - hard to call something less than 2 years old OG, yet here we are. MASTER the PROMPT! This tool does it all. If you need help in this area, click below to set up a free consultation.
2. CHALLENGE
Get 500 new connections on LinkedIn by Sept. 30
If you already have a ton of connections, then just add a zero so this is a legit challenge. Here's how you do it.

3. LITTLE KNOWN FACTS
71% of respondants in a recent Indeed poll of 10,000 professionals were ready to make a job change THIS YEAR
That is a LARGE number of people who have not yet found their Nirvana. That, along with COVID, have erased any stigma of job searching. Make a post on LI, FB, Insta, X, TikTok, skywriting, carrier pigeon....
4. TICKLING YOUR FUNNY BONE
Interviewer: “Why do you expect such a high salary when you have no experience in this field?”
Candidate: “Well, the job is much harder when you don’t know what you’re doing.”
Hopfully you learned something, had some fun, and were encouraged to keep up your momentum. By the way, you don't have to go it alone, we are here to help you every step of the way. Click below to talk to a career coach.
