I met with some friends last Saturday and we got talking on Life, career and the future.
It was my turn to talk about work, I told them I have started writing professionally not as a hobby anymore but as a career.
Writing is something I do effortlessly, it is a passion, hubby and now business. I have a solid knowledge of digital marketing and have done a series of adverts for clients for a few years now.
Now to the crux of the matter, these my friends told me on Saturday that they would not hesitate to leave their current job, which I see as a stepping stone of their careers, if only they could get slots to get into government work, police, customs and so on.
Let's be clear here, I am not bashing those who want to work in the government, Police e.t.c
My dad was a government worker during his days.
What I am saying is most of us youths are not ready to build a career, we want all the money, the next big-paying job, and then we leave the one we have now.
But who no like money?
I like am too.
But realise that time is ticking, jumping from one industry to another will hurt your reputation.
I know as a writer who has not only gone through the rudiments of digital marketing and still learning about it, there is always space for me in social media marketing, content lead or associate, marketing.
Believe me, I have seen and done it all, still doing it.
Damilola Jonathan Oladeji got a gig which involves managing the social media account of an emerging fashion brand.
The agreement has been reached, payment made and work have started. Now just imagine me putting those two positions on my Cv at the same time?
That is, content writing and social media management the same period, what does that tell you?
Do you remember when we were young?
Now time is consuming us, we don't have the luxury of time anymore.
