Career Development Insights From 2,500BC

Welcome to The Start-Ups Savannah. I hope you have a productive time with us.
We hope to inspire the African Elon Musks and Bill Gates and Steve Jobs archetypes. Trailblazers who create the new normal and alter the world in hitherto unimaginable ways.

In the old world, people gained professional skills through apprenticeship. Otherwise known as learning on the job.

Granted, the complexities of the modern world calls for an intensity of learning that’s impossible in the ancient model of apprenticeship. But you’ve got to admit, learning while earning has its advantages.

Learning on the job

I learned academia research writing via apprenticeship. It was an amazing experience. I remember thinking; “I am making money and am still learning!” I never stopped learning. You never stop learning new things in academia research writing.

One area where I’ve really been struggling to make money while still learning is in entrepreneurship. Don’t get me wrong. Am not starving. I make barely enough to survive on.

Entrepreneur apprenticeship has been an uphill task. More like rolling a bolder uphill, really. You make progress, but it’s strenuous work.

GENESIS: The Start-Ups Savannah

Am excited to announce that I have been apprenticed to The Workstation as a writer/entrepreneur. My role; to nail their inaugural GENESIS: Start-Ups Savannah magazine. A print and digital double issue! For me, it’s heaven.

And the goodies just keep on coming. For underprivileged entrepreneurs, The Workstation is a godsend.

Proposed as a low-budget co-working facility within Nairobi CBD, The Workstation will be a dedicated space for freelance workers in the digital economy.

For when home gets a little boring and networking events, The Workstation comes fully equipped with free Wi-Fi, meeting rooms, and networking spaces.

The facility is anticipated to open in 2024 under the auspices of Genesis Incubation Center.

The Workstation will provide digital entrepreneurs with a vital facility for growth.

Learning from history

I accept the opportunity to apprentice under the Genesis Incubation Center with gratitude. Am fully committed to their vision of powering a start-up savanna in Kenya. I count myself lucky to be a part of a competent and dynamic founding team.

So, in my first action as a Editor-in-Chief, I would like to state the editorial vision of GENESIS: Start-Ups Savannah. Our vision is to create an inclusive platform for young entrepreneurs from all walks of life to discover, explore, and exploit their full enterprising capability.

We hope to inspire the African Elon Musks and Bill Gates and Steve Jobs archetypes. Trailblazers who create the new normal and alter the world in hitherto unimaginable ways.

Welcome to The Start-Ups Savannah. We hope you have a productive time with us.
