Career Crisis | STAY Because you worked so hard to get there, or LEAVE because you’re miserable??

"Aren't you happy?? This is your dream job!" That's what everyone kept asking my client Jo during the first six months of having started her current job.?

She'd had her heart set on working for this international organization since her time at university!?

  • She had been cultivating connections within the organization for years and possessed an in-depth understanding of its workings and how her expertise aligned with its challenges and needs.?
  • She had been very intentional about her career path and tailored her work experience to align perfectly with her dream job.?
  • She not only survived but excelled in rigorous interviews for the opportunity of a lifetime.?

Less than a year after eagerly signing a contract with her supposed dream employer, Jo now faces the morning dread of work. Overwhelmed by incessant meetings and an unending to-do list, she finds herself disillusioned by her employer's unfulfilled promises of making a positive impact on the world.

Feeling trapped in a career that has consumed her life, she reached out to me in despair for a Career Clarity Call and promptly enrolled in my Step-Up program during the same conversation.

?

She found herself in a career crisis. Instead of having found a meaningful career with the opportunity to contribute to a ‘better world’, she’d signed on for a career at odds with preserving her emotional and mental well-being, maintaining a happy family life, and ability to continue living and enjoying her globally mobile life.?

?

She'd spent the last two months agonizing over the career choice she made less than a year ago. She never expected to feel disconnected from her 'ideal employer' so soon.

?

Her biggest struggles?

  • Her innovative ideas were being ignored, even though that was what she was hired for. ?
  • ?She was being micromanaged by managers who top it up set unrealistic expectations and deadlines. ·??????
  • Because of constantly juggling unrealistic expectations and deadlines, she was missing out on too many family dinners and outings.
  • The most significant blow came with the realization that the organization she once held in high regard was failing to fulfill its promise of impact and change.

During her Clarity Call, Jo came to the realization that despite the substantial investment she had made in her career ambitions and education to successfully land this job, continuing to invest in her current position no longer made sense.

Once she had the courage to admit this to herself, I was able to help her move out of her paralysis and plan her next steps. She signed up for my Step-Up program on the spot, ready to prioritize her happiness and embrace her ambitions down an unbeaten career path.?

?

We are currently working together to find a job that will be a perfect match for her brilliance and passion for contributing to a better world while also accommodating an adventurous, globally mobile life with her family.?

She’s already made the most difficult decision to resign from her job, even though it looked like the perfect dream career fit on paper, and she was so emotionally invested in it.

I'm excited for Jo, who's stepped up in her career and taken back the power to set her own fulfilling and rewarding career path. She's on her way to making it a success.?
