Career change turns up the inner voice by turning off the social voice

What’s the reason for unemployment graduates? Let us jump in to the sea to find pearl! Students on the verge of entering the job market land on the wrong career paths due to many reasons. Mostly because they are focused more on academic qualifications than developing their skills. The Sri Lankan youth are frequently pressured on gaining the best results in academics, mainly to fulfill the wishes of their parents and what the society recommends to be right in terms of career. It influences to eradicate their career dream clouds in the financially driven sky.?

Let’s dive into Indian Ocean, fifteen government universities and many other private universities/institutes provide world recognized academic and professional courses for Sri Lankan students. Thus, it is evident that a large number of students get entitled to graduate every year. Even if a student graduates, there is no guarantee of him/her gaining a financially stable job. Because there are limited positions available in our country’s job market, the number of graduate job seekers is rapidly increasing!

“As an undergraduate student, I feel that when examinations & job interviews are scheduled to be hosted during the same time period, the students get torn in between two important decisions. Because in such a situation, when we invest our time in studies, we end up losing great job opportunities.”-Shamitha Chandrasena (University of Kelaniya)

This statement proves that candidates face many problems when trying to enter the job market. If the recruitment process can be made flexible for them, there is a chance that most candidates will be able to approach the kind of jobs that they love!

“Unfriendly interviewers that make us feel uncomfortable” -Nikoki Weerakoon, BSc (Special) in Information Technology 4th year (University of Sri Jayewardenepura)

This message proves that if recruiters got proper and instant guidance on how to treat candidates, they may feel comfortable when answering questions.?

“Job specification and job description are not clear in recruitment description of most companies. So it’s very difficult for the applicant to get the correct idea of the Job role” Hashvini Veerbahu, Masters in Business Studies (University of Colombo)

This voice of a student declares that the interviewer must clarify the information to shed light in to the job role of others.

If we analyze stories from experienced swimmers, the baby boomers skipped their vacation time and they were continuously focused on work because they looked at time consumed as money. Also, they were depending on the privilege of job security. Gen X did a variety of things in their job to make themselves motivated. Most of the millennial (Gen Y) negotiated their hiring process based on flexibility, they prefer to balance personal and professional life. Gen Z is the fresh job seekers in the market of opportunities. Every generation brought up with different aspirations in their career. Technology is evolving day-by-day which influences to make new trends in every profession. Thus, shows that society is more responsible to provide proper career guidance to upcoming generations.

On the other side, companies also invest a lot of time and money in the recruitment process, but they do not succeed in gaining the expected results. Thus, it would be ideal if there was an algorithm finding tool or an AI-based tool to help them in filtering the right talent more efficiently.?

Shuck the oyster

There is no book with chapters and theories which are dedicated to help a student to follow their heart, beating with passion, to go forward in life. If a student wants to follow their dream they must take a firm decision on it while making sure that is they ready to face the obstacles that come with such a decision. Following a passion will bring hardships in terms of finance and other facts, but it would also make the student more endearing as they learn to balance their priorities while working hard to fulfill their dreams. Were students waiting too long in a queue to reach their ambition? Virtual recruitment is the easiest and quickest place to find everyone’s dream job!

Did you find pearl in an oyster that your hands holding too long?
