Gen-Z, let's see, what is Gen-Z? Gen-Z are the people who were born between 1995 and 2015. It is 2023, and Gen Z is a young professional. As per Deloitte, Gen Z will make up 75% of the workforce by 2025. Here comes the most important question regarding Gen-Z:
what is their value?

What are their motivations and career expectations?
Can businesses be able to align their demands and expectations with work?
Gen-Z is the first generation that has grown up in a time where technology is included in every aspect of life. They are more accustomed to technology than anyone else. They are very much getting all the answers from the internet, and they always expect to get them.
Gen-Z prefers to be flexible; currently, 55% Gen-Z prefers starting a business because they have seen a lot of start-ups succeed on social media. Gen-Z pursues work-life balance. You might see them frequently leaving the company for better opportunities, which also makes them less trustworthy to the employer.
Let's talk about India as a Gen Z I think I prefer to do a job in the tech world where I can be flexible and where I can learn as needed. That’s not the case with everyone, most want to start a business. I don't think they are wrong but the reason they choose is mostly what they see on internet. One of my Facebook friends said, "pursuing a work lifestyle where you want to work in the office with your colleagues is a slave mindset. People should start businesses if they can." That was understandable why She said that, because when you see motivators always saying jobs are bad, we Gen-Z easily get influenced by the internet. Some say Gen-Z is very smart and able to make the right decisions as compared to millennials, but I don’t think that’s the case; we get easily influenced by the internet. The Internet plays a very important role when Gen-Z decides their career.
Let's see what other effects Gen-Z has on deciding their career. As Gen-Z from India, things that mostly influence their careers are our parents. We follow our parents' advice mostly, or you could say most of the time. For us, we want to do everything that can make our parents happy. In my case, that's true. My friends also think the same.
Another aspect is finance, which also plays a very important role in deciding a career. I come from a middle-class family. In 2023, education is the most costly thing in India. My financial background is not solid. I completed my B.Tech. by taking an education loan from the bank. Most Gen-Zers have to take out loans. It's also a deciding factor in choosing a career. Most don’t even go to college; the main reason is finance. Another thing is that going to college doesn’t confirm that you will get a job.
I have covered the most important thing in Gen-Z choosing a career, which is parents and finances. Both are dependent on each other. There are other aspects too, like friends, etc. But the above two play a major role in deciding a career.
