Picture the scene, you’ve graduated from University or College and looking to enter the big wide world of professional employment.
However, so are 100,000’s of other applicants all with their own valuable 1st and/or 2nd class degrees and your now faced with the question of:
The middle word of the above question is exactly your answer.
To stand out from the others you need to show the Hiring Manager / Recruiter why YOU are different, not the same as the countless other applications (this does not mean copy and pasting the best bits of the job description, yes, we know those words from somewhere as it was usually the Recruiter that wrote them!) it means explaining what makes you a good fit for the position.
More often than not the reply coming back is.....yep you guessed it...........NO!
More often than not to gain that all important "Yes" to being shortlisted a Recruiter or Hiring Manager will have screening questions in the application process and following this they are looking for your character or persona to stand out and show why you have taken the time to try and be the "one" they are looking for.

I certainly hope not!
Your initial paragraph on your CV is the most important as it sets the scene given that its the first thing anybody reads. Your biggest strengths, passions and career aspirations should be in here
If you want to go one stage further - why do you want to work for the company.
Does the role come with training? Is training important to you? If it is, tell us and why!
Does the role require or provide you the option to travel? Is that important to you? Why?
Should you get a call / Zoom / in person meeting with the Hiring Manager / Recruiter you as a candidate you would expect the Recruiter to be knowledgeable about you so show them the same courtesy by relating your application to their role not the same CV you used countless times over - you will be surprised at the difference a little effort and research into the company / role makes.
If you liked what you read.
