Care through Disaster in practice: new toolkit launching 16 May

What if, in the context of not only a climate crisis but a housing crisis, cost of living crisis, growing wealth inequality, isolation, rising rates of anxiety and depression and more, we decided to change course?

What if we decided that the only way to survive all this was to not only rapidly decarbonise, but to prioritise Care — as an organising principle of our lives, organisations, communities and politics? What if Care for Country and each other became a key measure of our success, taken as seriously as we take defence, reflected in every choice we made?

You’re invited to the launch of our latest work, revealing just what that could look like, and how we get there.?

Register to attend the launch of Care through Disaster in Practice.

Join us for our launch discussion of our latest report, Care through Disaster in Practice: A Toolkit for Leaders, from the Citizen to the State proudly co-hosted with project partners Women’s Health Goulburn North East?(WHGNE).

Details: Thurs 16 May, from 1-2pm AEST, online

Free but registration essential.

This work builds on research we did last year with WHGNE, looking at Care through Disaster: a new lens to survive and thrive in tumultuous times. We already know communities want to feel Seen, Safe and Supported through disaster.

Join us to discuss the top three things we can do as citizens, in community organisations, as well as in local, state and federal government — to make that reality and build a robust new infrastructure of Care.

This toolkit offers a far-reaching suite of actionable recommendations that can empower leaders everywhere to take Australia in a radically better direction.

It's an essential discussion for professionals in policy, advocacy, government and community outreach; as well as anyone interested in disaster prevention, preparation, response and recovery.?

No one wants to live in a more disaster-prone world. Fortunately, we do want to live in the kinds of communities that can thrive before, during and after disaster. We have the will, the know-how, the people and the resources required. There are bright spots and evidence of this approach working, all across the country.

Let’s build the communities we need now, ready and rising. RSVP here.

Danielle - did I mention this today? Should be an interesting session and the report and toolkit covers some of what we were chatting about.
