Like History, Success too repeats itself.

It was September 28, 1992. We got the first order for hydraulic power packs for a micro hydel power plant from Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd. I still remember the sweet excitement of that first order - a sense of accomplishment - A feeling that we had arrived.

On September 26, 2022, again the same feeling that we have arrived came back. This time, it’s due to the acknowledgement of my work by the Industry’s prestigious magazine - Hydraulics & Pneumatics magazine, UK.?

Three decades is what the time it took for the most precious feeling of accomplishment, to reappear with that gravity.

I express my gratitude for the upliftment.

For some, it may take a lifetime.

For many, it never happens.

And of course, for few, it returns with a bang in lesser time.

However, though the speed of acknowledgement by the Industry is diverse, one thing is certain. The very Intent of contributing to the Industry in terms of technology, innovation or by any other progressive way - not only works, it work wonders.

I am grateful to Andrew of our Industry’s popular magazine - Hydraulics & Pneumatics to give me the opportunity to write in their magazine’s issue on heat exchangers.

Down the memory lane

When we started Ace 30 years back, it was a tiny team of 3, a patched-up table & a telephone. In the years that followed, we added clients from various industries – Paper, Steel, Hydel Power, Sugar, Cement, Automobiles and Railways. My constant focus was to do root cause analysis of breakdowns & consistent contemplation on what worked & what didn’t! All these years, we have been genuinely helping clients to decipher what went wrong when equipment failed, even when the equipment was not made by us! And definitely, it helped us to achieve maturity in many directions.

Technology guiding Future

As a policy, we always focused to enrich the experience of our client which not only adds to innovation but also makes us become eligible to leverage expanded viewpoints, to elevate Industry standards. Keeping this mindset at center of all growth, just two and half decades back, we visualized a shift in the market’s need from water cooled shell and tube type heat exchangers to air cooled oil coolers. We desperately started working on it. Incidentally, my first real exposure to air cooled oil coolers happened at the International Exhibition in Milan-Fluidtrans Compomac 2000. This fueled the fire in my belly more to bring that best for my domestic clients. As a result, we started importing air cooled oil coolers for captive use in power packs that we were manufacturing.

Good things offer a great value too!

I always preferred the value which a product brings in comparison to its cost.

To optimize costs of imports & the conviction that this was the way forward, we started distribution of air-cooled oil coolers in India.

Since market was hungry, more & more clients came forward looking for air-cooled oil coolers. We decided to take the plunge & took the decision to manufacture “the cool stuff” in India.

We culminated our research and launched Ace Oil Coolers at the MDA expo in November, 2012. In the decade that followed, there has been no looking back.

Now, we are considered as innovative industry leaders in transforming not only the Indian Hydraulics Sector but also exporting to 16 countries around the globe.

We have gained as a Brand something phenomenal, but anyone can replicate our success if they focus on key cause of concerns of their Industry. One can learn from our experience. ?In any Industry, as an entrepreneur, one has to keep an eye to check competence of the product. Saving major losses and simultaneously, another eye to focus in building your Brand muscle by competing with other players. For example high heat production, wrong product selection or lapse on part of product performance, results in big losses in terms of:

  • Replacement of expensive spare parts-pumps, valves, seals
  • Increased oil leakages
  • Higher service expenses due to frequent visits to attend breakdowns
  • Damage to Brand image
  • Customers suffering
  • Effects on future business prospects

We wiped these trouble-zones from our customer’s life and offered them World-class product advantages as our best smart solution.

Simultaneously, we educated our customer in detail about the points that need to be kept in mind when comparing oil coolers to avoid mistake in the first place, like:

  • Heat dissipation
  • Pressure drop
  • Reliability of fans
  • Spare Fan availability
  • IP protection of fan
  • Power consumed by the fan

As I grew, the inner voice to share the knowledge acquired over the years, became louder. Initially, I was doing this only in one-to-one sessions with clients in business meetings. Pushed by my mentors, I wrote a book on the subject.

My winning mantra in all these years has been care. Care for our clients, our suppliers, our team mates – all stake holders. This to me is the true requisite of success. Needless to say, it brings you repeat orders, adds new customers & grows your brand.

I must appreciate the Industry Icons rising with good practices of competence and care. If one look at their growth muscle, it is nothing less than an inspiration voyage. Let me share it with you for a smart glimpse-

It’s payback time. Helping companies & fluid power professionals grow, overcome their oil heating challenges is my inner calling. Reduce heat loads by suggesting proven, simple - yet actionable improvements in design seems responsibility. Assisting them to overcome common mistakes in hydraulic power packs becomes my accountability. And finally helping them in selecting the right oil cooler to dissipate the unavoidable heat production is my mission.
