Carbs might be making you heavier not Fatter!

Oohhhh Greg it's the carbs that are making me fat.

Probably the line that everyone says after eating 2 slices of bread filled with peanut butter ??

The carbs could be making you heavier but not FATTER

Let me explain.

Carbs can be used by the body for energy & they can be stored in your liver and muscles as glycogen for later use.

To help store this glycogen you need water.

For every g of carbs you need between 3-4g of water for storage.

So if you go out for meal and it's high in carbs then the water you take in with that pizza is being used to store the glycogen in the liver and muscles.

You are now heavier.

That DOES not mean you have gained fat.

So if you are heavier after a meal with a large amount of carbs then it''s it's going to be water weight rather than fat.

It takes a large amount of carbs for them to be converted into fat.

I suggest getting comfortable that the scales don't tell you the whole truth about how much fat you have.

You would be far better off using pictures, measurements and pictures to really show how much you have made progress.
