Significant Milestones in our reforestation project
One year in, our 2022 plantings are thriving at our properties at Kooyong, Yimba, Hillview, and Red Plains. These areas are part of our Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, which aims to restore a 200km corridor of native vegetation on degraded land, and is now established as Australia’s largest biodiverse, reforestation carbon sink.
By planting these seeds and seedlings, we’re providing vital animal habitats and restoring the soil, contributing to food sources and capturing carbon emissions from the atmosphere. And we couldn’t have done it without our partners - hundreds of businesses and organisations have helped us plant trees in the Corridor to provide nature-based climate solutions.
2023 Planting Program
This year, we have ambitious plans of hand planting over 1 million seedlings and sowing enough seeds to have 3 million more plants?germinate in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, coinciding with the arrival of the first significant rains of the Noongar, Makuru season. We are particularly excited about the upcoming planting season at our newly acquired Wandalong and Snake Soak properties, which signifies a significant milestone in our project. With this expansion, we are committed to regenerating nearly 21,000 hectares of native ecosystems.
