Carbon friendly alternative to diesel

Land & Water have successfully completed a trial of 93% carbon neutral HVO as alternative to diesel. The trial proved a modern diesel engined Hitachi excavator could work reliably in arduous conditions when running on HVO. There was a small improvement in fuel efficiency but the real gain is the fuel is 93% carbon neutral. Further to the trial I am satisfied that we can offer customers HVO fuel in our machines and can even deliver our machines in vehicles running on white road legal HVO too.

I don't necessarily see it as a silver bullet and solving all sustainability issues with earth moving machinery but its one of the ways we can offer our customers a solution for now whilst other technologies improve.
This fuel is more stable than current diesel - there is no risk of Diesel "bug", there is less chance of waxing in freezing temperatures, its biodegradable, it can be mixed with existing fuel making it an instant refill, it can last for years in tanks and is also much more attractive for us to use in boats too.
The only hitch is its more expensive..... Will customers be prepared to pay more for being green?
