CARBON-FIXING MICROBES
Pluton Biosciences has raised USD 16.5 Mln in a Series A funding round to advance its work in identifying beneficial microorganisms, which are then useful in agriculture.
?Those microbes and bacteria can capture and sequester carbon and nitrogen in the soil, for instance.
?Additionally, scientists have recently found that some of them can even produce long-lasting carbon and withstand decades in soils, with the potential to be used in businesses other than agriculture.
The new funding round was led by Illumina Ventures and RA Capital Management and include other investors such as Fall Line Capital , The Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment and First In Ventures, LLC among others.
