Carbohydrate and muscle growth

Carbohydrate and muscle growth

The best way to grow lean muscle tissue is weight training.?

Weight training is?uses carbohydrate as a fuel source meaning that?it's reliant on glucose to fuel muscle contraction.

If you want to maximise performance for this kind of exercise, you need to be fuelling with adequate carbohydrate.

Hard weight training = muscle growth.

And carbs fuel hard training.

But how much do you need?

For example.

An 80kg person who goes to the gym three days per week should aim to consume 2/3x80

160-240 grams of carbohydrate per day to keep glycogen stores full.

And this is important to note.

Why? Because a lot people who try to improve their health by getting fit and strong, cut out a massive amount of carbohydrate from their diet.

Which will lead to poor performance and and minimal progress in the gym.

I am a big believer in minimum input and maximum return. You have a busy and demanding life and should be looking for the maximum return on investment of time.
