Car Subscription Services: The New Complete Guide for Everyone

If you're anything like me, the idea of car subscription services is downright appealing. A new Porsche every month? Yes please! But as it turns out, this service isn't just for luxury car lovers - it's perfect for anyone who wants to get behind the wheel of a different vehicle without any long-term commitment. ?

In this article, we'll explore everything you need to know about car subscription services so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not they're right for you.?

What is a Car Subscription Service??

Everything is a subscription service today.?

For what it's worth some fast-food companies are even moving in the direction of a subscription-based model like Taco Bell; in which for $10/mo you can get a free taco, once per day (Presumably they'd upsell you on drinks).?

But that's neither here nor there. When it comes to car subscription services they are similar to leases, with terms ranging from one to 24 months at a fixed monthly rate. Most subscriptions are booked online or through apps and the terms are generally quite flexible with penalty-free cancellations.?

To some, a car subscription service is a perfect solution to their problem of not wanting or needing car ownership. ?

The short-term nature and flexibility make it an attractive option for people who want protection with lower costs than traditional buying models without any long-term commitments!?

...hold on a second there bucko! There are some drawbacks that car buyers are going to find in car subscription models. Here are just a few:?

  • Exorbitant Fees: Car subscription services come with many things you need to pay attention to such as the monthly rate! You can find vehicles for as little as $249 a month, but luxury vehicles can go up to almost $2500. (There are also tons of other fees)?
  • Car Handover Process: Documentation of a car will be ?? with subscription models - on both ends! During the handover period it's important that dealers are candid about the quality of the car, including photos and video of the car's condition; and it should be stressed that customers, while not having to worry about insurance, still need to treat the vehicle as their own. This isn't like the old days of renting a DVD or video game, scuffing it up by sneezing on it, and returning it good as new. ?
  • Mileage: Also be sure to clearly define the included mileage. Companies like Hertz only allow you 2,000 monthly miles for their subscription service, but over at Enterprise you get 3,000. Let's reiterate here: Candidness + transparency = sales. ?

The cool thing about subscription services is that regardless of credit score, insurance policy, or even citizenship status (for anyone traveling abroad) you can still sign-up customers in any state that offers them. ?

At the end of the day car subscription services are only slightly more difficult than signing up for a Spotify account. This is going to open the flood gates to a whole new generation of car buyers if you get ahead of the game now!?
