From the ground looking up, you may see a blue, red and yellow helicopter hovering over Los Angeles: our Air7 HD ENG Helicopter equipped exclusively for ABC. Since 1990, Helinet has served news stations throughout Southern California with fully configured ENG helicopters, and it’s one of the essential helicopters in our fleet.
But inside the helicopter, a strong team plays a huge role in bringing news to Los Angeles residents. One of those members is Marcel Melanson.
Marcel joined the Helinet Aviation team four years ago, starting in the production department, working on drones and cameras. He now serves as one of Helinet’s ENG Camera Operators, focusing on the right shot that best tells the stories we see each morning on the news.
“My favorite part about working at Helinet is the diversity of the job. Every day and every mission is different, said Melanson. “We never know where the next mission will be.”
Our ENG helicopter camera operators are expertly trained in the execution of news gathering using the latest cutting-edge technologies. With each mission, they have a trained eye on what to capture and how to best optimize their equipment.

“In my particular area (ENG) Helinet has proven to be the industry leader by developing and adapting technology that had never before been utilized. It is both exciting and humbling to be a part of that process,” mentioned Melanson.

2 年I once worked with a pilot who always sung the praises of Helinet. It's a shame they dumped most of their ENG contracts (not that I blame them!) before I was able to beg to work within that company.

2 年That's my "dream job"!! To have the opportunity to combine my love for aviation and my skill as a professional camera operator. I recently got my pilots license at Van Nuys. I'd love to come by.
