Capture Christmas traditions

Capture Christmas traditions

Traditions and rituals are already starting... get recording now!

It's still 5 weeks until Christmas, but there's so much fun and excitement in the planning and lead-up to 25 December! So start to capture those moments NOW as we start to welcome in this fun-filled season.

Here's 3 traditions for you to capture on video in the month of December with your loved ones:

#1: Decorating the Christmas tree

Record the family decorating the tree

In our house, we start the season by putting up the tree around 1 December, and that is a whole ceremony all on its own! We have Christmas music playing loudly, the lounge floor is covered with boxes, tinsel and tangled Christmas tree lights (which our cat loves to play with of course).

To this day our daughter adds a new decoration to the tree and puts the angel on the top of the tree when all the other decorations have been added. It's how it's always been, and it's traditions like these that we love to capture on video every year.

#2: Baking for Christmas

Capture the messy Christmas baking

Who doesn't love the fun of baking Christmas cookies together? Set up the camera as you start creating in the kitchen this year.

If you have a special recipe you use, be sure to include that in the recording too - perhaps you have a family recipe that's been passed down through the generations?

Remember to show all the messy parts of the process, as well as the baking and the fun decorating part. If you give some cookies to friends, you could include the process of gift wrapping or packaging of the cookies too.

#3: Letters to Santa

Dear Santa...

Writing a letter to Santa is something many of us can remember doing, and the excitement of mailing a letter to the North Pole!

This year, as your kids or grandkids are writing their lists or letters to Santa, have your camera/phone ready to capture them. Get up close and film their expressions as they focus on this important task. You can also record them reading out their letter to Santa when they've finished writing.

It's precious childhood moments like these that can be treasured forever when they're captured on video. And when those kids are grown up, they'll love watching it back in years to come.

What traditions or rituals does your family have in December?

Drop your Christmas ideas or family traditions and rituals in the comments - let's share the joy of the season and really celebrate this family time in the days leading up to the big event!
