Captain Tom Moore's 100th Birthday Walk for the NHS is The MOST INSPIRATIONAL Story you will every read ... AND ITS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!
On Thursday 9th April Captain Tom Moore who is 99 years young, aimed to walk a hundred lengths (10 laps per day) of his back garden in England which is 25m in length before he turns 100 years old at the end of the month in order to raise money for NHS Charities Together because “our fantastic NHS workers are national heroes.”
His initial target was 1000 UK Pounds (R22’000) was reached in just 24 hours - so they moved the target to 100’000 UK Pounds which was again was reached just 24 hours later -so they moved the target yet again, this time to 250’000 UK Pounds which again was reached just 24 hours later, so they decided to go for 1 Million UK Pounds, which thanks to the incredible generous support of donations received from around the world on https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tomswalkforthenhs was reached yesterday, Tuesday April 14th.
When I went to sleep last night at 10pm he had already reached a staggering 3.5 million UK Pounds and this at 6am that figure overnight had exceeded 4.1 million UK Pounds (R90 million) and if you add in the UK Government Gift Aid payable on donations from UK tax payers, he’s now exceeded 5 Million UK Pounds (R110’000’000) and he’s still raising funds!
Imagine being 99 years young, going on to 100 with the intent of hoping to raise 1000 UK Pounds to thank the NHS staff for the care he received when he overcame cancer and a hip operation, and this phenomenon happens in your name – what a national treasure, what a hero!
