Captain EIC - The ICEMAN

“I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” – Oscar Wilde

I was always fascinated with this concept of emotional intelligence and did my first-time course of emotional intelligence conducted by FICCI decade ago and I was completely enthralled by it.

Somewhere now in 2020; I started realising the concept of emotional intelligence will now simply going to pop out from all possible direction and humanity simply going to embrace it like never before and we all know the reason – as some chapter of life teaches you hard work way some very good lesson of life. Game changer skills which everybody needs to master for the larger cause of society, country and humanity at large

With this vision that future will belong to emotional intelligent leaders – I just completed a very interesting course called Leading with Emotional intelligence on a very reputed online platform during this lock down period and preparing myself for what mankind will be seeking in future

In a world where we are expected to leave our emotions outside when we enter office or when you enter your house, it is important to understand that we are but a bundle of emotions and emotions trigger actions. While we may expect people to act and behave without being at the mercy of their emotions, the truth is that we tend to get emotionally hijacked putting personal and organizational goals at risk. I would like to share some thoughts on how Emotions play a critical role during Change and why Leaders need to be Emotionally Intelligent

People with high EQ scores are more aware of themselves but can regulate their actions and have more empathy for others an increased level of emotional intelligence can also help individuals manage stress better build healthier relationships be more effective at work and more fulfilled.

I would certainly find that most of the qualities for both your best and worst examples have to do with each EQ and not their IQ. And I bet most if not all the qualities of the worst example did not reflect their lack of knowledge or intellect or their IQ but rather shortcomings in their EQ.

In fact, Theodore Roosevelt may have said it best - Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.

It's important to note that EQ and IQ are not linked just because your IQ is high does not necessarily mean your EQ will be higher or inversely if your IQ is low. Your EQ will not necessarily be low.

Emotional intelligence is a fundamental element of leadership. Great leaders can come from anywhere and be anyone, but they all have one thing in common and that is their ability to relate with other people.

Great leaders are able to energize and motivate people. They are able to create a connection, and this is why a leader who understands the importance of emotional intelligence will often have a considerable advantage.

A great leader is someone people want to follow. Emotions can provide valuable information about how we understand the world around us and the people who know their own emotions and are good at reading other's emotions can be more effective in the workplace and at home or in your social gatherings

Emotional intelligence is also an integral factor in achieving group harmony as it is essential to understand that everyone has their own opinions and feelings and will often express those in different ways.

I'm sure we all know that people are wired just differently and that's not even a bad thing because what that means is that everyone has their own strengths skills and emotions.

For example, if a member of your team is acting distant rude or otherwise non-cooperative you should use your emotional intelligence skills to try and understand the underlying motives behind their behaviours instead of just writing them off as not being team players.

Leaders need to recognize that there are many reasons why people might be acting a certain way ranging anywhere from personality to stress inside or outside the organization to feeling ignored just to name a few.

At its core emotional intelligence is the ability to identify understand and manage one's own emotions in order to communicate effectively overcome challenges resolve conflicts and foster group harmony and teamwork.

Developing your emotional intelligence will allow you to adapt your leadership style as card so that you can become more effective and an inspirational leader in all situations and with all kinds of people through the leading with emotional intelligence program that can inspire spark ideas and enrich lives.

Your emotional intelligence impacts everything from your gut feeling and how you make decisions to your relationships with your friends and loved ones and how you react and adapt to overcome everyday obstacles like pressures and stress.

Today the majority of our communications are filtered through virtual media devices with technology limiting our human time and attention building strong relationships is more valuable and more challenging than ever before.

It's all shocking how little emphasis is placed on these emotional intelligence skills at schools or workplaces even though in this age of connectivity emotional intelligence skills are often a greater determinant of success than raw intelligence just like IQ is a numerical value correlated with cognitive ability or traditional intelligence.

You need to be able to express your emotions as well as be able to read someone else's. Developing your emotional intelligence will not only help you improve your business it will improve your life. World needs now leaders with extremely high emotional intelligence. They will be called Emotional intelligent commander – Captain EIC aka ICE-MAN
