capstone news: a look ahead: cortina
The National Capstone Consortium is proud to announce the launch of our nonprofit, the Cortina Education Group.?
Cortina's mission is to provide the strands of connection, financial sponsorship, and organizational support for professional networks of K-12 educators that: are interdisciplinary; include diversity of experience; promote student agency; and collaborate to share free resources and ideas. Cortina will focus on the Consortium for the next few years, developing it into a thriving and sustainable organization. Stay tuned for new programming and networking opportunities coming this year.
The name Cortina comes from the ecological world of fungi. These important organisms physically link trees together in a “wood wide web,” shuttling nutrients back and forth, shaping complex and interdependent forests. Trees in need are nurtured by mature plants, with fungi providing the conduits for these mutualistic relationships. Cortina strives to provide such a structural system for the National Capstone Consortium and future educational groups.
We are thrilled to enter this new chapter of our work and excited by the opportunities yet to come.
