It’s been a busy two weeks for CAPS.?Our Director of Research, Dr. Annelotte Walsh ,?spoke about the challenges nonprofits face in securing operational funding at the “On Board Hong Kong 2024” conference hosted by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business on March 22. Our Senior Advisor, Kithmina Hewage , joined the global gathering at the One Earth Summit in Hong Kong on March 25 to discuss efforts and obstacles in achieving net-zero emissions.

Capacity-building is a much-needed service for social service organizations in Asia. To better understand the region's needs and opportunities for capacity building, CAPS convened social sector experts from 11 Asian organizations working in this field for an online webinar on March 19. We would like to thank our partners for sharing their perspectives and experiences.?

Last but not least, we are excited to share our latest report, titled “Nurturing Minds: Early Childhood Education in Thailand.” This report delves into Thailand's early childhood education landscape, providing?an insightful?analysis while showcasing 12 initiatives led by local NGOs. Doing Good: The Latest in Asia

Indian philanthropy evolves with a focus on tackling climate challenges The recently launched India Philanthropy Report 2024 highlights increased social sector spending, a focus on climate action, and the evolving role of women philanthropists. Collaborative efforts and regulatory changes have bolstered India's philanthropic evolution amid its economic growth. Read more about these findings here .

Indonesian social entrepreneur to transform the textile and garment industries

Denica Riadini-Flesch is an Indonesian social entrepreneur and 2023 Rolex Awards for Enterprise laureate. Her project, SukkhaCitta, connects women artisans to markets and empowers communities through a "farm to closet" approach and sustainability practices. Read more about her story here .

Pakistan nonprofit provides free pre-dawn meals and more

During Ramadan, the Pakistani charity ‘Together We Can” (TWC) is delivering free suhoor (pre-dawn) meals to people in Karachi. Originally established in 2020 by a group of friends, TWC has grown from providing 200 daily food packets to delivering at least 20,000 food packets a day during the fasting month.? Bamboo-based social enterprise center welcomed in the Philippines

A social enterprise center featuring innovative bamboo-based construction was unveiled in Quezon City, Philippines. This was a joint effort by local nonprofits to showcase environment-friendly architecture and community empowerment. Women-led businesses in Malaysia recognized for addressing social challenges

Five women-led businesses in Malaysia are featured through the Women in Entrepreneurship Programme, by Mereka and Standard Chartered. Taking various approaches, these enterprises provide a wide range of services from mental health, and English education to empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
