The original lighthouse built in 1812, was too short to warn ships of the dangerous shoals along the Outer Banks, so a taller lighthouse with 207 steps to the platform was built in 1857. This iconic structure features 3 white diamonds facing East and West. It also has 2 full black diamonds facing North and South with half black diamonds at the top and bottom. This is a must se when visiting North Carolina. Original Art Collection.
