China blamed for scuppering Intel’s $5.4bn Tower deal
Intel has scrapped its US$5.4 billion acquisition of Tower Semiconductor, after the required regulatory approvals from China were not obtained. The US chip giant announced plans to buy the Israeli-based chip manufacturer in 2022. However, Intel must now pay a termination fee of US$353 million to Tower.
