Cap, Gown, and Caffeine: Celebrating My 4.07 GPA Victory at Columbia University

After arm-wrestling with textbooks, dodging Covid cooties, jousting TA grad strikes wielding picket signs, rallying at student encampments, and scaling a mountain of essays for three grueling years, I emerged out of Columbia's gladiator pit clutching a dazzling 4.07 GPA in my final semester—my self-bestowed graduation swag—decked out in sheer grit, sprinkles of panic, and an ungodly amount of coffee to launch a mini rocket ship. Here's to the cap, the GS gown, and the caffeine ??? Congratulations to the Columbia class of 2023 and 2024! #SiYu'osMa'?se

Barack H. Obama (CC'83): On March 28, 2024, I participated in a roundtable meeting with Columbia President Minouche Shafik, where we secured approval for the building of a new dormitory to address student homelessness on campus. Former President Obama contributed to the discussions, sharing his personal experiences of homelessness as a student at Columbia in the late 70s. His insights were invaluable in our negotiations. Thank you, Obama!
