Canva Designers ARE professional

Graphic designers lose their minds when Canva designers are referred to as graphic designers.

It is a general feeling that those using Canva are cheap and lazy.

... and if you're a designer who uses Canva and you're about to scroll to the bottom of the article to tar and feather me; I'm a designer using Canva as well.

So ... breathe ...

I love Canva and everything it can do.

I do sort of suffer from FOMO because I only use Canva. But, I love the fact that my cluttered brain does not have so much to distract it. So even though there is some fear of missing out, I prefer using only Canva.

When do you use a Canva designer?

If you're an online business owner (or some form of -preneur) and don't want to spend a lot of money on professional graphic design services, a Canva designer (me) is right up your alley.

What you, as an online business owner also do, is create your own graphic using Canva, making it easy to be visible on social media and whatever else you need a quick graphic for.

Canva is a web-based (and mobile too) design app that allows you to drag-n-drop elements, therefore making it easy to use.

Canva is time-saving

It's a huge time saver. But only as long as you don't fall down that rabbit hole. This app saves you TONS of time if you're looking for a quick-fix visual to add to a post for social media.

Graph vs Canva Designers

Here's the part where highly paid graphic designers lose their sh!t over ...

Canva designers can create graphics built exclusively for you. Just exactly the same as graphic designers.

We're not all lazy by providing our clients with off-the-rack templates for their graphics. Our clients are savvy enough to specify that which they require, just like a highly paid graphic designer receives a brief, so do we.

And, we as Canva designers, have a reputation for providing our clients with custom/bespoke designs, just as graphic designers.

To say that this level of custom design cannot be achieved with Canva is short-sighted and certainly small-minded.

Look, there are certain heavy-duty graphics on large projects that cannot be achieved on Canva. It doesn't offer the same manipulative tools as can be found with the more expensive Adobe Creative Suite.

But Canva is holding its own.

It's can't do huge amounts of photo editing, drawing, illustration, or even icon creation.

I'm not knocking the love of my (business) life, merely aware of its limitations. But Canva has come a long way from the design tool it was even a year ago.

Canva designers are not unskilled, unprofessional, and unimpressive.

We are able to provide graphics to our professional clients without feeling like that which we've created cannot be seen by the general public. I'd go so far as to suggest that some Canva designs cannot be identified as being created in Canva.

With more than 35 million monthly users in over 190 countries worldwide, Canva designers have created a little corner for themselves.
