Whether you're a pro designer or someone eager to learn, you're going to love this—I did!

AI's Growing Role in Design

Have you seen all those AI-generated pictures everywhere lately?

It's unreal!

You can’t scroll through Instagram or Twitter without coming across some mind-blowing art created by DALL-E or one of those other AI tools.

It's pretty cool how it works—you just type in what you want, and…..

The AI gives out an image.

Honestly, some of this stuff looks better than what I could draw in a million years!

But here's the million-dollar question:

Are designers all going to be out of a job soon? I don't think so.

Here's how I see AI fitting into the design world:

  1. It's a massive time-saver: You know how sometimes you've got this awesome idea, but it takes forever to actually make it? AI can make that out in no time (i mean milliseconds).
  2. Wanna try out a bunch of different ideas?: You can test out loads of concepts without spending hours on each one. It's perfect for when you're not quite sure what direction to take.
  3. It's changing up what designers do: Instead of getting stuck in the details, we can focus on the big picture—like the vision and strategy.

But it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

Take a look at this process of creating a design or piece of art—do you think AI can truly understand and feel it better than the human brain?

There are some downsides:

  • AI art can sometimes feel a bit... soulless? Like, where's the personal touch?
  • And if you're a control freak like me when it comes to design (and other things), AI might frustrate you. It’s not good at getting the small details right just yet.

Bottom line?

AI is causing big changes in design. It's exciting to see what's happening. In a few years, we might be working with AI helpers to do design work.

A creative revolution is here?

Since most folks (us founders) want to save time. And most likely have used Canva at some point. I wanted to dive deep into how they’ve added AI features.

So here's the A to Z:

First off, they've got "Magic Grab" feature. It's like playing with Photoshop, but way easier. You can grab stuff in a picture and move it around. And then the background gets filled…

Then there's "Magic Media" - basically a midjourney or DALL-E alternative…

You know how sometimes you see a design and think, "I wish mine looked like that"? Well, now you can just click a button and copy the style.

Need to update a bunch of designs at once? No worries. Canva's got a bulk update thing that'll save you hours (founders, take note).

Plus, they've added a bunch of AI stuff to make your designs look even better.

The bottom line is that Canva is upping its game. It's making pro-level design stuff available to everyone. Pretty neat, huh?

Start playing around

Who knows? You might end up making something awesome!

The New Chapter in Design

Remember how Steve Jobs said computers were like bicycles for our brains? Well, now AI's like this crazy e-bike on steroids for our creativity.

It's totally changing how we think about design—less grunt work, more cool ideas.

Here's the deal with AI in design:

AI in design is like having a really smart bro who:

  • Never gets tired
  • Can look at tons of pictures for new ideas
  • Makes pictures based on what you tell it

The more details you give the AI, the better picture it makes.

But don't worry - AI isn't going to replace human designers. It's just a new tool to help them.

Here's how you can use it:

  1. Get good at describing what you want. The better you are at this, the cooler stuff the AI will make.
  2. Use it to try out tons of ideas super fast. It's great for when you're not sure what direction to go in.
  3. Mix AI stuff with your own design skills. That's where the really unique stuff happens.

Looking ahead, these AI tools are just going to get smarter and easier to use.

So, what do you think?
