Dear friends:
I know you're the type that loves the big city, but I also know you love a great small-town, American breakfast where you get exactly what you want, and owners and staff talk to you and treat you like they've known you for years.
There's a place just like that in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. You would never suspect it is so. It's right across for Ford's theater, so it's as interesting a location as it is a shocking place to find such "small-town" American breakfast diner.
Outside, the Lincoln's Waffle Shop is very plain. In fact, you almost won't know it when you see it. The door is small and crowded and sometimes even difficult to enter.
Once inside, you're greeted by a fine family of people ready to make you the best home-cooked breakfast ever. What catches your eyes immediately is the old-style breakfast counter with the customary tall stools. It's right in the center, and also butts against the windows if you like a view outside looking over at Ford's Theater. The floor area has about 5 to 6 tables to handle your family if you choose.
Even more important is what your nose senses. Breakfast. Waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, breakfast steaks, home fries, oatmeal, grits, coffee, toast and jelly, country fried chicken, and so much more just overwhelming your senses. It's a true mastery of both northern and southern breakfasts in one place.
If you weren't hungry when you walked in the door, you will be starving in just seconds from the incredible, nose tingling sensations filling the air.
I highly recommend you sit at the breakfast counter because the owner's love to talk, and I know you do, too. The great thing is, they listen and love what you have to say. You chat about anything... life, family, politics, travel, sports, food... they love it all as much as you do.
Personally, I love to get the eggs over easy with the country sausage, two pancakes, and toast... along with a cup of coffee. To me, that is a breakfast from heaven. They have a menu with great ideas. But what is truly amazing is they will make you anything you want, just like you are in your own kitchen!
I'm certainly not the only one loving the Lincoln's Waffle Shop. Here's what some other's have said...
Mattison C. said, "It was good. It's cheap, great service. I suggest the home fries with peppers and onions. My parents got the ham and cheese and western omelettes. They liked it a lot."
Shameika H. said, "I had a little mixed feelings about this place because of how it looked. Just know you're about to make new friends when you come in because you will be sitting next to strangers.
The owners are a cute Vietnamese family that have so many jokes. They made us laugh the whole time.
Quick is the right answer for this. We ordered and got our food in it came out in less than 15 minutes. We were told to grab any drink we wanted from the back freezers, I grabbed an Arizona. The eggs were soft and extra cheesy. The pan sausage were perfection. The waffle was wonderful.
I love going to places like this. Sometimes you don't need "over the top" dining places to have a great meal. They were clean and quick."
There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of reviews like this online.
This little breakfast diner is truly perfect for you because I know you love being relaxed, feeling like you're at home, and enjoying the great small talk with strangers and friends while getting your breakfast exactly like you want.
So as soon as you arrive in DC next time, don't make excuses. I know you will be downtown, so be sure to visit Lincoln's Waffle Shop. It's less than a 3-minute walk from the Red Line trains so it's easy to get to.
I promise you an incredible small-town American Breakfast of your choosing. If you don't love it... the food, the people... the atmosphere... I'd be shocked.
See you there. Say hello to my friend "Q." (Quoc Stephen Ngo)
