To accelerate your job search, you've got to do a better job of coming in first.
One of the best ways is to be first in line - To get to employers before any other candidates do.
Why is this important? It's how employers choose 80% of their new hires ... they choose the candidates that are first in line.
To understand why, just think about human nature. Hiring managers not only choose the candidates they already know and trust, they also use them as the bar of comparison for candidates who apply later in the game.
And that's the basic problem when you apply online ... you're too late for the hiring manager to already know and trust you. When employers choose 80% of their new hires based on who the hiring manager already knew and trusted, applying online only gives you a shot at 20% of all advertised jobs and none of the hidden job market.
Additionally, the way most candidates network for jobs (yes, even including you) is also too late for the hiring manager to know and trust you - Because you network after jobs have been posted. Using this job search method or applying online, you aim for 4th place while hoping the top 3 candidates all drop out.
