Canning Stock Route Update #11
Today was a day off which was appreciated. Since leaving home I drove about 4,400km - first to get to the CSR starting point in Yulara and then going up the stock route. Even though our daily driving on the track is only slightly above 100km, it requires some concentration in order not to hit any sharp rocks that can slid our tires, or being shaken on some nasty stretches of corrugation.
Today's pic is my camping setup, which brings me to Rhino-Rack : A company for roof rack stuff I truly value as well as the folks at Roofrack and Towbar World Artarmon with owner Paul from the Netherlands (a football team still in the Euro2024 unlike Germany…). Roofrack and Towbar World Artarmon has been a great go-to place for me to get advice on a variety of things. There isn’t much these folks haven’t seen or heard of.
I use Rhino-Rack’s Pioneer Platform which is extremely versatile. Back home I carry my surfski on removable cradles whereas in the bush I use the platform to carry jerry cans, roof boxes for light stuff, a 23,000 lumen (!) light-bar, side-lights (in yellow so I don’t attract flies), a sand flag - and an awning. My Batwing awning from Rhino-Rack is rock solid, very affordable, and can attach sidewalls for either weather protection or privacy.
Late morning we did a challenging hike to the end of the Durba Springs Gorge and back on top - the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, and we also came across some rock art. We are certainly not the first souls who appreciate the beauty and the practicalities of the site such as shade and water.
Great to hear the awning and walls are getting some weather. Keep the trip-updates coming.

8 个月Amazing! I can attest to Rhino-Rack; it's a great product, and I'm biased because it's fitted on my own Wrangler!
