Where to start this week?
Australia is as good as anywhere.
As the Kaiser Chiefs once said, " I Predict A Riot", actually I predict a "annus horribilis" that may cause patients to riot and it takes a lot to get Australians to riot. Why do I say this. After much back and forth at the end of this year the major political parties have decided to kill any proper debate on cannabis. State health departments are flexing their muscles and seing where and how they can enforce. The TGA has been ineffective in managing some aspects of the medical cannabis programme and is most likely on the end of some political pressure in Caberrra to be seen to be doing something. Plenty in the medical cannabis have been seeing how far they can push the envelope becuase the opportunities for making money are still great for the smart operators. The not so smart operators are dropping like flies and to cap it all of I hear of more mainland China money in the market. If that all isn't a recipe for tears I don't know what is.
Back in the US of A DEA administrative judge, John Mulrooney, says the agency made a critical “blunder” in its effort to?issue subpoenas to force Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials to testify?in upcoming marijuana rescheduling hearings—but he has allowed it to fix the error and ultimately granted the request. If they are making blunders in the administrative phase of the process I don't dare imagine what could go wrong in the hearing which of course are taking place in one of the most politically charged periods of recent US history. Expect, as we say in the UK, a bunfight.
Germany and France are both entering politically charged times as well. We learn today that after the French medical cannabis trial end in the new year there's nothing planned in terms of extending the conversation and across the border in Germany will the current political chaos affect or effect the planned cannabis programme. I suppose at least the Dutch have their 10 city trial up and running, small mercies.
Minnesota is back to square one after a faile license lottery, Massachusetts decided today on a new cannabis commission head, I feel sorry for his family, he's going to be one very stressed dude. In New York, well in New Yor I don't even want to go there this week. It is migraine inducing stuff and I want to enjoy my lead up to Christmas.
I could go on but enough is enough instead I'll leave you with my favourite paper of the week brought to my attention by Lex Pelger. ... "How THC Affects Sheep"
