#CanesBaby Part 2: The Lights in The Dark Ages

Welcome back! If you’re reading this, I’m assuming you read last week’s post detailing the history of my Carolina Hurricanes fandom, but if you haven’t checked it out yet, be sure to scroll down and read that post before reading this one! It’ll give some important context about why I’m making the following list. For the record, I’m aware that this is a super niche topic. But hey, it’s my blog so I’m writing what I want. Sue me.

Anyway, as I said last time, the Canes of today are finally a bonafide contender that should be able to compete with the best teams in the league for years to come. While I’m obviously thrilled about that, it doesn’t change the fact that I spent the formative years of my life cheering for some truly awful teams, and I feel like they were important enough to me that I should take a minute (in list form, of course) to count down my favorite Canes players of the “Dark Ages” (2010–2018.) To avoid recency bias, I’m not going to include any players who are members of the current squad (but I still love you Jordan Staal, don’t worry.) Let’s get to it!
