Candidates Process of Hope
Each morning there is a day of hope and perseverance for those who are seeking a new opportunity. ?While there is hope there are daily emails commenting, “…another candidate was chosen to fill the opportunity,” or, “…there are candidates who more closely fit the position,” and many other email communications letting you know, “you are not enough for the opportunity.” How do you calculate the need to keep hope with daily rejection?
There are mental securities immediately put into play when feeling rejection. You will try to process how to change the feelings, learn from the experience and move on or suppress the feeling until you can handle the pain. Either way the subject in the communication is rejection. Is there a better way to help the recipient of these emails?
There is a better way to communicate with candidates after choosing the top performing resumes. Provide feedback with the communication to explain, “the why” behind the choice. It has been found that human rejection will follow up with trying to understand why pain is there. American Psychological Association explains, “Rejection can hurt because?humans have a need to belong and be accepted by others.?It can negatively impact self-esteem and self-worth, and make people feel vulnerable and exposed…” Knowing that there is not a way to support each candidate with an explanation of acceptance for the opportunity, how can the candidate feel acceptance and keep a feeling of self-worth?
Let’s put our many years of experience into brainstorming. Each candidate is close to a mental breakdown which can cause an action we will not expect. There must be a better way to encourage and uplift amongst hourly, daily, weekly rejection.
