CANDIDATES: How to prepare for a remote interview.

With more and more of our clients turning to video calls for interviews due to the outbreak and quickly spreading Corona virus. I have compiled some quick tips to ensure you can still give the best impression.
Test your technology — Make sure your internet connection is working prior to your interview, nothing worse than being late to an interview whether its in person or remote
Dress appropriately — Dressing for success is no less important for remote interviews. Dress smartly, like you would for a normal interview. Also ensure your surroundings are tidy, no one wants to see the piled laundry basket in the background.
Be prepared — Do your research on the company and interviewer, as you would normally. Check their website and LinkedIn. Have some questions written down for you to ask.
Be personable — Make eye contact, smile and engage with your interviewer (not too much though, cause lets be honest it’s a little creepy)
Remove distractions — Ensure you’re fully engaged with the interviewer. Try and limit distraction by sitting in a room with children running wild wont help that.
Follow-up — Send a follow-up email to your recruiter or interviewer (if going direct) Just a quick note thanking them for their time.
If I can help you prepare you for an upcoming interview in anymore detail please don’t hesitate to reach out to me on [email protected]
