Are Candidates Ghosting You?
Happy Halloween Everyone!
Candidate "ghosting" is never fun; in fact, it's very costly. While it happens more frequently in high-volume hiring situations, no one is immune.
So what is causing ghosting?
There can be a number of factors playing into ghosting. Let's stir the caldron and see what we find!
If ghosting is happening at the initial phone screen, we recommend you take a good look at the job description you've posted. What information are you placing at the top of it? Is there information on salary, benefits, other perks that help set your organization apart? Do you talk about culture? Remember that candidates spend 3 seconds reading your posting.
If ghosting is happening on the intended start date, we recommend you look at your onboarding process. Was there a delay between offer, acceptance and start date? If so, was there regular communication between your team and the candidate during that time frame? If there was, what did the communication include? Did the recruiter understand why the candidate wanted to work there or if they were also considering other options? If there were other options, how was the recruiter positioning the role/organization as the employer of choice?
These are just a few "ingredients" in the witches brew that could be causing Caspers. We have a few other tricks up our sleeves to help clients dispel candidate doubts.

Sometimes, it takes fresh eyes from the outside to provide the insight necessary to decrease or eliminate ghosting. A fractional recruitment marketing firm can swoop in, assess the situation, make recommendations, and disappear (poof!). Pretty wicked, huh?
Recruiting doesn't have to be a monster. Let's turn it into a monster mash party. Frankie and I will be there, just say the word!
