As The?#ShuftanJobReport?roars with nearly 3,400 subscribers, I am rolling out my second phase to help people. I post the report on M/W/F and want to use T/Th to feature excellent candidates. I built this community as a way of bringing together job searchers and those who are hiring. As an homage to Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd," I rolled out "Candidates in the Crowd." This is a white space for candidates to discuss their previous work, hopes, and dreams and show off anything to the network. The Candidate will capture a hiring manager's attention, and good things will happen.

If you have followed my journey, you know my six-year-old daughters, AKA The #ShufTwins, are the most precious things in my life. My wife and I raise them to be independent, strong-minded, and powerful. These characteristics caught my attention about today's Candidate, Erin McMillan . Erin "spent eight years helping ALL girls recognize themselves in dolls and stories – creating a new generation of girls with strong character." She is a strong figure I want my daughters to know more about.
From Target to P&G to American Girl, Erin has done a little of everything, from category growth to commercialization to omnichannel marketing plans. I love that she is proud of creating meaningful work in emotionally driven categories. That is what consumers want and desire and she has made the "secret sauce".

Who is Erin McMillan?
I’m a passionate, consumer-obsessed marketer and general manager.? I’ve led category-growing innovation from concept to in-market commercialization, omni-channel marketing plans from agency brief to award-winning execution and sold-in long-range strategic plans (including large capital investments) to the staunchest of executives.?
After spending my early career at Target, and completing my MBA at the Wisconsin School of Business, I spent 5 years at Procter & Gamble becoming a successful brand-builder. There I leveraged my love of the consumer and mastery of the crowded cosmetics category to launch the top-selling, and category growing, COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain. I transferred my skills from cosmetics to food, and then to one of the most beloved brands, American Girl, where I spent 8 years helping ALL girls recognize themselves in dolls and stories – creating a new generation of girls with strong character.
?As a brand champion who isn’t afraid to stand up for what I believe in, I’ve created meaningful work in emotionally driven categories, and been consistently recognized as a top performer.? More important than what I’ve done, is how I’ve done it.? I thrive on building high-functioning teams, leveraging organizational expertise to create experiences and content that break through the noise and collaborating across functions to drive profitable sales growth.
Favorite Project:
Naming a favorite project is like choosing a favorite child… it’s hard to name one because they all taught me something important that affected my future work.? That said, one of my favorite projects was creating COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain from initial consumer insight to communication strategy to advertising campaign and commercialization plan.? Staying true to what consumers loved about the product made creating the beauty campaign and executing the media strategy simple. Consumers and influencers noticed, its performance exceeded KPIs, grew the overall category and was my first product to be named one Oprah’s Favorite Things!
Looking for:
Going forward, I’m looking for the opportunity to do meaningful marketing work. I’m interested in brands and experiences that are breaking the mold, while keeping the consumer’s needs in mind.?
I am Madison, WI-based and am looking for full-time opportunities. I’m willing to relocate for the right role but am looking for local hybrid and remote opportunities.
