Candidate write-up- how important it is while presenting resumes to customers

Since the time I have been associated with the Recruitment & Staffing industry (roughly 17 years) I have been observing there are great recruiters sourcing and sharing great resumes against various jobs to their respective customers they have been working with.

But only a handful work on the presentation skills.

“Food on a plate can be delicious but if not served and presented it cannot appeal “

Similarly, a great candidate’s resume against an open job role loses its value to a large extent if not presented well to the POC – Point of Contact at the customer.

I always explain it to the sourcer/recruiter to spend enough time talking with the candidate over the call while screening. When a candidate talks about his/her expertise and other non-work-related stuff it becomes easier for a recruiter to present the resume well.

I always suggest to recruiters during their training sessions that even before the POC looks at the resume of the candidate and decide to further proceed shortlisting process the message or information in the email MUST show how strong the candidate is.

So here are some keys pointers to provide while presenting your candidate further:

·??????? Job Related

o?? Make sure that the candidate has sufficient years of experience

o?? Ensure that the candidate has relevant domain/industry projects in the recent projects (at least recent 2-3 projects). Don’t forget the mentioned the employer names.

o?? Make sure to mention in your own words work related to mandatory skills (a few keys skills as per the JD)

·??????? If/Any relevant Training & Certifications or any special projects candidate has done additionally (as it adds a great value)

·??????? How soon the candidate is available for interview/joining/if expecting any offers while his resume is being submitted
