Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia
Promoting health equity for all Hispanics throughout Georgia.
February 12, 2024
Shirley E. “Bella” Borghi, Executive Director, Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia, Vice Chairman of the State of Georgia’s CEAL-CCB Team, was among leaders, state representatives and senators, that ensured “Cancer Awareness Day 2024” was both important and meaningful for the state of Georgia. Apart from stated desired outcomes, the day was significant because it represented a culmination of sustained advocacy, purposeful campaigning, and the reward of seeing the subject of cancer being addressed seriously at the highest level by State representatives. Bella had this to report based on her personal knowledge and relationship with representative Terri Anulewicz, District 42:
“Anytime the legislative business of the State is purposefully disrupted by a single subject for an awareness day, and when several house members choose to be present, expectations and results rightly come into focus. I was pleased to share the passion and genuine insightfulness of representative Anulewicz as we thoughtfully assessed the progress made with cancer specifically, and the many health challenges facing the State of Georgia.”
The day was a success because the attendees showcased the visible commitment which the state of Georgia is making towards achieving better health outcomes for all Georgians.
