This year is all about going where the money resides. I do not know whether to be upset about the fact that unpaid internships are still, "a thing" or to just be appalled at the fact that there is still conversation surrounding being a part of an unpaid internship setting.
The last time I checked, inflation was at an all-time high and the cost of goods and services keep rising.?
In this case, whether you are a recent college grad, a full-time student, or maybe in your senior year of high school, it is important that you know, YOU have value and you should apply to internships that compensate for your willingness to learn and contribute to their organization with some kind of stipend.
It is only fair.
Of course, there are levels to this world of work. And hence, we don't expect an intern would be paid at a senior executive level, but we know that life isn't free and comes at an expense. Even getting to the "unpaid" internship comes at a transportation cost. These are just a few of my thoughts.
Let me know your thoughts!

2 年God is so intentional because minutes before seeing this I had to reject an internship because of this. I was afraid that I made the wrong decision because job hunting has been so hard and I definitely want more experience. However, the more I thought about my needs like food and health care that need to be covered and what’s going on in this Jamaican economy, I just knew that I couldn’t make that sacrifice, so thank you for this.

2 年I agree 100%. Given the current state of the global economy its unconscionable to be asking persons to work for free. Interns deserve to be paid.
